Introduction
Innovative Pathways: Enhancing Teacher, Counselor, and Service Professional Pipelines in Public Schools is an edited volume that seeks to address the ongoing shortage of teachers, counselors, and related service professionals in public schools. This publication will compile chapters that present creative and practical strategies to attract, train, and retain these vital professionals. By showcasing a variety of innovative approaches—from recruitment strategiesand alternative preparation models to retention efforts and policy advocacy—the book aims to provide a comprehensive resource for tackling this critical issue. Each chapter will offer actionable recommendations, supported by research, case studies, and best practices, to help stakeholders in education implement effective solutions. Chapters will be categorized into the following three sections: Innovative Strategies to Recruit and Retain Teachers; Recruiting and Retaining School Counselors and Social Workers; Related Service Professionals Recruitment and Retention Strategies.
Objective
This publication will make a significant impact on the research community by addressing the lack of consolidated research on innovative strategies to enhance the education workforce pipeline, thereby filling critical knowledge gaps. By bringing together diverse perspectives and solutions, the book will provide a rich source of knowledge and insight. Additionally, it promotes interdisciplinary research by encouraging collaboration among educators,policymakers, and researchers from various fields, fostering new research agendas and collaborative efforts. The chapters will offer empirical research, case studies, and practical examples, contributing to the body of evidence-based practices in education, enabling researchers to build on these findings to further explore and refine solutions. Ultimately, by presenting well-researched recommendations, the book aims to influence policy decisions and practicalimplementations in schools, contributing to systemic change and improvement in the education sector.Innovative Pathways is designed for a broad audience of stakeholders in the education sector, including school administrators and district leaders, to help them implement effective strategies for recruiting, training, and retaining teachers and service professionals. It also targets policymakers and education advocates by providing research-based recommendations to inform policy decisions and advocacy efforts aimed at improving the education workforce pipeline. Submission Procedure
Researchers and practitioners are invited to submit on or before September 25, 2024, a chapter proposal of 1,000 to 2,000 words clearly explaining the mission and concerns of his or her proposed chapter. Authors will be notified by October 8, 2024 about the status of their proposals and sent chapter guidelines.Full chapters of a minimum of 10,000 words (word count includes references and related readings) are expected to be submitted by November 17, 2024, and all interested authors must consult the guidelines for manuscript submissions at https://www.igi-global.com/publish/contributor-resources/before-you-write/ prior to submission. All submitted chapters will be reviewed on a double-anonymized review basis. Contributors may also be requested to serve as reviewers for this project. Note: There are no submission or acceptance fees for manuscripts submitted to this book publication, Improving Teacher, Counselor, and Service Professional Pipelines in Public Schools. All manuscripts are accepted based on a double-anonymized peer review editorial process. All proposals should be submitted through the eEditorial Discovery® online submission manager.
